:: Types of Hardware ::

Hardware is all the parts of a computer that you can touch. There are 5 types of hardware:

1. CPU
2. Memory
3. Storage Devices
4. Input
5. Output

Students should be able to:
a) Define hardware and give examples
b) Define software and give examples
c)Describe the difference between hardware and software of a multi purpose computer.
d)Identify the main components : CPU, hard drive, input/output devices, storage devices.

Hardware is all the parts of a parts of a computer that you can touch. There are 5 types of hardware...

1.The hardware that controls how fast the computer works is the CPU system.

2.The hardware that holds all the MS word documents is the Hard Disc Device.

3.The hardware that is used to connect periphal hardware is the imput and output device.

4.The hardware that is used to read CDs is the CD/DVD hardware(the box at the top of the CPU hardware).

5. The hardware that stores all the computer programmes is the storage device.

Software Notes

Software What is software? There are two types of software. System software – this is the operating system and controls all the other software and hardware e.g. Windows XP Application software – this does a specific task e.g. writing a letter, searching the Internet e.g. Microsoft Word There are different types of software:
